I’ve been seeing a lot of articles lately saying “blogging is dead” so of course, I decided it was the right time to start one. A good friend of mine – who admits she has the same traits – would likely point out that this is probably due to my contrary nature.
I pretty much anticipate that my friends and family will be the only ones reading this, but on the off-chance that you’ve come across this site and don’t know me, here are a few basics.
I’m 51, single with no children other than a needy Golden retriever, and I work full-time in marketing and communications for a nonprofit organization. I wouldn’t call myself a great cook, but I’m not terrible either; and for the most part, the extended family and friends I experiment on say they like my stuff. And nobody has died because of my cooking (that I know of), so that’s a plus.
Earlier this year, I decided I needed a new personal project/creative outlet (I really just wanted to avoid cleaning my house), and from that grew the idea of a starting a “something something per week” around my birthday because it would be 52 weeks until I turned 52. Yeah, I don’t know, it sounded like a reason at the time, and then I told people about it, and it sort of exploded from there. More about that here.
Also, I just flat out love macaroni & cheese.
So from March 1, 2020 through February 28, 2021, I will be making a different mac and cheese each week and sharing my progress – good, bad, or inedible. We’ll see how it goes!
