Behind the Scenes

Getting “Getting My Mac On” ON

I ran into some last-minute challenges getting the blog ready to go – I did a lot of the initial setup through the app on my phone and iPad, and then switched to my laptop for some last-minute tweaks, and just as I was ready to hit “publish” the color scheme went skeewampus on me.

On mobile, the color palette I picked was a lovely combination of two shades of green and a light gray.

My original design

On my laptop, it rendered in baby blue and lavender.

Hard pass

I wasn’t necessarily going for colors that scream mac & cheese (orange & yellow? NO) but I didn’t particularly want it to look like an Easter basket either.

When I selected palettes that looked nice online, the greens were a screaming neon shade on mobile. I’ll spare your eyes, trust me, it was blinding. Other combinations that looked great on mobile were blah and washed out on a regular machine.

So having promised my horde of loyal supporters (4 friends and my mom) (and my sisters) that I was launching on Sunday, March 1, I clicked frantically through the available color groups as the sun went down, going back and forth between my laptop and my phone, until I found something that wasn’t vile on either platform, and finally launched the site about 12 hours later than planned. But it was still Sunday in all US time zones, so I’m calling it a win.

All that to say, the current look wasn’t my first choice, but it could have been a whole lot worse.

“But we’re not here to talk about boring website logistics,” I can hear you saying … “we want the mac!”

The first mac will drop on Sunday, March 8 (time TBD), but for now here’s a sneak peek:
